Ranchi:A delegation comprising members of Lahu Bolega Raktadan Sangathan, the Jharkhand Thalassemia Peedit Association, and the Jharkhand State Voluntary Blood Donation Organization Coordination Committee visited the Jharkhand MLAs’ residential complex at Smart City, Ranchi, early Friday morning. The delegation included thalassemia and sickle cell anemia patients, their family members, and voluntary blood donors.
The delegation met Kanke MLA Suresh Baitha and expressed gratitude for raising issues related to thalassemia and sickle cell anemia in the Assembly. They also held a detailed discussion with Dumri MLA Jairam Mahto regarding the challenges faced by patients and the need to strengthen voluntary blood donation initiatives.
MLA Jairam Mahto termed the matter extremely serious and assured the delegation that he would raise the issue prominently during the upcoming session of the Jharkhand Assembly.
The delegation included founder blood donor Nadeem Khan, Thalassemia Coordinator Sanjay Toppo, Devki Devi, Sujata Kumari, Brajesh Mahto, President of Jharkhand Kurmi Sanskriti Kalyan Samiti (East Singhbhum) Sapan Kumar Mahto, social worker Asfar Khan, blood donor Engineer Shahnawaz Abbas, and family members of patients including Sushma Devi, Leela Kumari, Alpana Kumari, among others.
The delegation urged the state government to ensure improved healthcare facilities, regular availability of safe blood, and necessary support for patients suffering from thalassemia and sickle cell anemia.
