Ranchi:: Under the guidance of Honorable Governor Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar, the Indian Red Cross Society, Jharkhand Branch, organized a blood donation camp today at Birsa Mandap, Lok Bhavan, Ranchi, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the great philosopher and youth icon, Swami Vivekananda (National Youth Day).
Before inaugurating the camp, the Governor paid tribute to Swami Vivekananda by offering flowers at his portrait. On the occasion, he stated that Swami Vivekananda’s teachings continue to inspire the youth, and that serving humanity is the true service to God.
The Governor described blood donation as the highest humanitarian and noble act, emphasizing that the lack of timely blood often puts precious lives at risk. He highlighted the importance of turning blood donation into a mass movement to ensure adequate availability of all blood groups in the state. He also mentioned that steps are being taken to organize blood donation camps in universities and colleges across the state in the near future.
Specially addressing the youth, the Governor urged them to consider blood donation not as a one-day event but as a lifelong responsibility. He noted that if every healthy youth donates blood three times a year, there will be no shortage of blood in the state, and it causes no
inconvenience to the donor. He also pointed out that neighboring countries have widely adopted organ donation, and encouraged everyone to overcome any hesitation about blood donation and become more aware of its importance.
The Governor further mentioned that he has personally donated blood regularly in the past. He said that active participation of the youth is essential to realize Prime Minister’s vision of a “Developed India @2047,” and that blood donation performed in the spirit of service is a significant step toward that goal.
He appreciated the Jharkhand Red Cross Society, volunteers, doctors, students, and all supporting institutions for organizing the blood donation camp, expressing confidence that the initiative would send a strong message of service and social sensitivity. He called upon everyone to take a pledge that no individual in Jharkhand should lose their life due to the lack of blood. The Governor congratulated and thanked all 406 donors who participated in the camp.
In his welcome address, the Governor’s Additional Chief Secretary, Dr. Nitin Kulkarni, stated that the Jharkhand Red Cross Society has been effectively reconstituted under the Governor’s guidance. He added that the blood donation camp was organized to maximize blood collection in the state, and noted the special enthusiasm among the youth on National Youth Day.
Expressing gratitude, Mr. Vijay Kumar Singh, Chairman of the Indian Red Cross Society, Jharkhand Branch, said that inspired by the Governor, Red Cross branches are actively functioning across the state, with blood donation camps organized in nearly all districts.
The camp saw participation from the Governor’s Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Nitin Kulkarni, Additional Director General of Police (Training & Modernization) Smt. Suman Gupta, Governor’s aide Major Naveen Dhattarwal, members of the Indian Red Cross Society, Jharkhand Branch, students from various universities, and numerous volunteers.
