Jales to Celebrate Premchand Jayanti, Focus on Taking His Ideas to the Younger Generation

Ranchi: The Ranchi unit of the Janwadi Lekhak Sangh (Jales) held its virtual organisational meeting on Saturday under the chairmanship of Kumar Brijendra. The meeting reviewed the organisation's activities, discussed greater participation of emerging writers, and chalked out plans for upcoming literary programmes.

District Secretary M. Z. Khan said the continuous literary initiatives undertaken by Jales Ranchi have attracted many new writers, particularly those working in regional and tribal languages. He appealed to young authors to participate in the Jales National Short Story Workshop scheduled to be held in Alwar on September 6-7.

The meeting unanimously resolved to celebrate Premchand Jayanti on July 31. Addressing the participants, president Kumar Brijendra said the political misuse of religion and faith has become a serious challenge to social harmony. In such circumstances, he observed, the writings and ideas of Premchand have become even more relevant in promoting human values, equality and democratic consciousness.
