Ranchi: Vishwajeet Deb, State General Secretary of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), Jharkhand, has called for intensifying a united and decisive struggle against the anti-worker and anti-farmer policies of the central government. He announced full support for the All India Resistance Day called by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha on January 16, stating that workers across the country will take to the streets in solidarity with farmers.
The Samyukt Kisan Morcha has decided to observe the Resistance Day at village and block levels in protest against the Seeds Bill 2025, the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2025, the Developed India Employment Guarantee Act 2025, and the four labour codes. The protest will also support the demands for a legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP), loan waivers, and effective implementation of the Land Acquisition Act (LARR) 2013. CITU has termed these demands legitimate and announced its participation in the joint action across the state.
CITU stated that the proposed changes would weaken employment guarantees, impose an additional financial burden on states, and severely affect poor and unorganised workers. The Seeds Bill would threaten farmers’ rights and traditional seed conservation, while the Electricity Amendment Bill would increase the burden on poor consumers and small industries.
CITU alleged that all these measures would undermine the federal structure and the rights of the states. As the next phase of the struggle, a nationwide general strike will be held on February 12, 2026.
