Ranchi: On the auspicious occasion of Christmas, embracing the teachings of compassion, mercy, and service of Lord
Jesus Christ, the Society of St. Vincent de
Paul of Ranchi Catholic Parish organized a
food distribution program for the poor and homeless at Loyola Ground, Ranchi. The
program was graced by the presence of Archbishop Vincent Aind, Archbishop of the Ranchi Catholic Archdiocese, who personally distributed food
and blankets to the needy.
Christians across the world celebrate Christmas on December 25 to commemorate the birth of Lord Jesus Christ. Following His teachings of love, kindness, and empathy towards the poor, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul organized this charitable service. Notably, the Society has been continuously carrying out food distribution and clothing donation programs every year after Christmas since 1975.
During the program, Archbishop Vincent Aind first offered prayers, seeking God’s blessings for a dignified and fulfilling life for all. He then led the prayer before meals and distributed food and blankets among the poor and homeless present at the venue. On this occasion, the Archbishop emphasized that reaching out to the most marginalized sections of society is the true essence of Christmas.
Member of Parliament Mrs. Mahua Manjhi was also present at the program. She participated in the distribution of food and blankets and appreciated the dedicated efforts of the volunteers. She stated that such humanitarian initiatives strengthen social values and assured all possible support for such service-oriented activities.
Archbishop Vincent Aind praised the continuous service rendered by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Ranchi Catholic Parish and expressed his gratitude to all its members and volunteers for their selfless dedication.
Those present at the charitable event included Archbishop Vincent Aind of the Ranchi Catholic Archdiocese, MP Mrs. Mahua Manjhi, Rajya Sabha MP Sombit Manjhi, Assistant Priest of Ranchi Parish Fr. George Minz, Archbishop’s Secretary Fr. Aseem Minz, along with members and volunteers of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
