BBMS System to Be Implemented in Blood Banks Across the State, Two-Day Training Conducted

Ranchi: The Blood Transfusion Service (BTS), Jharkhand organized a two-day training program on the Blood Bank Management System (BBMS). The primary objective of this program was to digitize all blood centers in the state to ensure transparency, efficiency, and quality service in blood bank operations.

The program was jointly inaugurated by Dr. Neha Arora, Special Secretary, Health Department & Project Director; Dr. S.S. Paswan, Member Secretary, SBTC Jharkhand; Dr. P.K. Sinha, Assistant Project Director (KSACS & Recharge Blood Cell, NHM); and Mr. Ram Ji Gupta, Project Coordinator from C-DAC, Noida.

National expert Mr. Ram Ji Gupta from C-DAC provided detailed insights into the Blood Bank Management System (BBMS) and trained representatives from various blood centers across the state on its operation.

During the program, the Assistant Director (Drugs) gave a presentation on the smooth functioning of blood centers and instructed all blood banks to strictly follow the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Project Director Dr. Neha Arora stated, “The roles and responsibilities of every staff member at blood centers have been clearly defined. Each one must perform their duties with full dedication and accountability.” She further emphasized that Rapid Tests will no longer be permitted at blood centers — only ELISA, Chemiluminescence, and NAT tests will be valid, to ensure the highest quality of blood.

She also stressed the importance of appointing computer operators at all blood centers and ensuring regular data updates through the electronic broadband management system. It was also informed that six master trainers have been trained across the state to resolve issues related to the operation of E-RaktKosh and BBMS.

Dr. Arora added, “Master trainers will be appointed in every district for the E-RaktKosh system, and any technical or management-related gaps will be addressed promptly.”

This training program marks a significant step towards making the state’s blood bank system modern, transparent, and citizen-friendly.
