Tusgo Festival and Jubilee Celebration Concludes with 20,000 Faithful




Ranchi, Oct 2: The DaltanganjDiocese marked its grand 2025 Jubilee with a vibrant Tusgo Festival on Thursday, drawing more than 20,000 faithful. The event was presided over by the Apostolic Nuncio to India and Nepal, Archbishop Leopoldo Girelli, and concelebrated by over 100 priests.


Prominent church leaders present included Bishop Theodore Mascarenhas SFX, Archbishop Emeritus Felix Toppo, Bishop Julius Marandi, Bishop Emmanuel Kerketta, Bishop Linus Pingal Ekka, Bishop Francis Tirkey, Bishop Sonatan Kisku, and Ranchi Jesuit Provincial Father Ajit Xess, S.J.


In his homily, Bishop Theodore Mascarenhas emphasized God’s grace and providence. Archbishop Girelli congratulated Bishop Mascarenhas and the Daltanganj Diocese for their rapid progress and all-round growth. He also underlined the significance of the Tusgo Festival as a celebration of thanksgiving for God’s blessings and a symbol of unity.


After the Mass, a felicitation ceremony was held for the bishops and dignitaries, including former minister Bandhu Tirkey and MLA Ramchandra Singh. As the day coincided with Gandhi Jayanti, Archbishop Girelli paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi by garlanding his portrait.


The large gathering not only reflected the community’s strong devotion and shared faith but also highlighted the diocese’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage. The celebration stood as a testimony to unity, spiritual growth, and the enduring traditions of the Church in the region.
