Martyrs Remembered for Their Supreme Sacrifice, Families Honored with Gratitude

Ranchi::The Police Commemoration Day was observed with deep reverence and solemnity today at the New Police Centre, Ranchi. On this occasion, senior police officers and personnel paid heartfelt tributes to the brave martyrs who laid down their lives in the line of duty for the nation and the state. The ceremony began with floral tributes at the Martyrs’ Memorial, where officers offered wreaths and remembered the supreme sacrifice of their fallen comrades.

A two-minute silence was observed in memory of the martyrs. Speaking on the occasion, senior officials said that the sacrifice of the police personnel will always inspire generations to serve the nation with dedication and courage. They added that the values of bravery, duty, and selfless service displayed by the martyrs will continue to guide the police force in maintaining peace and public safety.

During the ceremony, the families of the martyrs were honored. Senior officers presented them with shawls, mementos, and certificates of appreciation, expressing gratitude for their immense courage and contribution. The family members, though emotional, expressed pride that their loved ones sacrificed their lives for the country’s safety and honor.

The event was attended by senior officials including the Inspector General (IG), Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Superintendents of Police (SP), along with a large number of police personnel and family members of the martyrs. The solemn tunes played by the police band created an emotional and patriotic atmosphere.

It is noteworthy that Police Commemoration Day is observed every year on October 21 across the country. The day marks the remembrance of the ten brave policemen who were martyred in 1959 at Hot Springs in Ladakh during the India-China border incident. Since then, this day has been dedicated to honoring all police personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

The program concluded with the National Anthem.
