Ranchi: In a significant political development in Jharkhand, several senior leaders and office-bearers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from East Singhbhum district joined the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on Wednesday.
Those who switched sides include Pankaj Sinha, Vice President of the East Singhbhum Zila Parishad; Sourabh Chakraborty, former BJP District President (Rural) and State Executive Committee member; Kaushik Sinha, Ghatshila Mandal President; Tushar Patro, former Mandal President of Musabani; Suresh Mahali, BJP Media In-charge; and Bunty Singh, President of the renowned Jambu Akhara in Jamshedpur, among others.
The leaders were formally inducted into the JMM by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who welcomed them into the party fold during a ceremony held in Ranchi.
JMM Central Spokesperson and former MLA Kunal Sarangi, along with Bari Murmu, Chairperson of the Zila Parishad, were also present on the occasion.
Political observers see this as a setback for the BJP in the Kolhan region, especially ahead of the upcoming elections, as several influential local leaders have shifted their allegiance to the ruling party.
