Commemorative Postal Stamp Released by the Governor at Raj Bhavan


Ranchi :: In a dignified ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, Ranchi, a commemorative postalstamp dedicated to the life and contributions of Late Seetaram Maroo Ji was released today in the august presence of Hon’ble Governor Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar. The special stamp has been issued by the Department of Posts, Government of India on the occasion 

of his birth centenary.


Addressing the gathering, the Governor said that Late Seetaram Maroo Ji was a devoted and industrious son of Mother India, who dedicated his entire life to the service of society, culture, and the nation. Issuing a commemorative postal stamp on his birth centenary, he said, is a true tribute to his remarkable life and work.


The Governor recalled Maroo Ji’s vital role in awakening social and cultural consciousness.
He made invaluable contributions in the field of social service by establishing the Marwari Sahayak Samiti and Nagarmal Modi Seva Sadan. As the President of Sanskriti Vihar, he worked tirelessly for the preservation of culture and for the advancement of education, healthcare, and rural development.


Highlighting his contribution to journalism, the Governor said that Late Maroo Ji played a significant role in promoting nationalism through the press. Inspired by Bharat Ratna and former Prime Minister Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji, he founded newspapers like Ranchi Express and Jai Matribhumi, which carried the message of patriotism and national unity to the masses.


The Governor further added that Maroo Ji’s deep faith in religion and culture is beautifully reflected in the construction of the Surya Upasana Bhavan (Sun Temple) at Bundu, Ranchi — now one of Jharkhand’s major religious and cultural tourist destinations. He remarked that the life of Late Seetaram Maroo Ji stands as a shining example of how selfless service to society and the nation becomes a guiding light for future generations.


Congratulating the Department of Posts, the Governor said that this commemorative postal stamp based on the life of Late Maroo Ji will continue to inspire the younger generation to follow his ideals and life values.


The ceremony was graced by Union Minister of State for Defence Shri Sanjay Seth, former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and former Governor of Odisha Shri Raghubar Das, former Rajya Sabha MP Shri Ajay Maroo, family members of Late Seetaram Maroo Ji, senior officials of the Department of Posts, and several distinguished citizens.
