CID produces accused before special court; both sent to judicial custody
Ranchi: The CID has arrested two persons allegedly linked to the conduct of the JSSC CGL Examination-2023 from Delhi in connection with the alleged examination scam. The accused, identified as Someshwar Prakash and Rahul Kumar, were brought to Ranchi and produced before the special court. The court subsequently remanded both to judicial custody.
According to the CID, the two accused were not regular employees of the examination agency Vowel Technology but had been assigned examination-related duties by the agency. Both are originally from Bihar. Someshwar Prakash is a resident of Askamini Nagar in Rohtas district and was staying in Sant Nagar, Burari, Delhi. Rahul Kumar, a resident of Chand Sarai in Vaishali district, was also staying with Someshwar in Delhi.
The JSSC CGL examination was conducted on September 21 and 22, 2024. Following allegations of a paper leak, the CID police station registered Case No. 01/2025 on January 1, 2025, and initiated an investigation.
CID probes agencies, financial transactions
The CID has intensified its investigation into the role of agencies involved in the conduct of JPSC and JSSC examinations. The roles of persons associated with TSR Data Processing Pvt. Ltd., Vowel Technology Pvt. Ltd. and other agencies are being examined.
Two agency operators have already been arrested. The CID is also searching for Vowel Technology operator Mihirendra Singh and his associates.
During the investigation, the arrested accused were questioned about alleged financial transactions made in the name of helping candidates clear the examination. The agency is also examining financial transactions between the examination agency operators and their associates. Further arrests are likely in the case.
Earlier, Sushma Kumari, wife of alleged mastermind Abhay Kumar Tiwari, and his brother Akshay Tiwari were arrested. Both are currently in jail.
Candidate detained in Bengabad
Meanwhile, the CID detained a candidate, Sameer Kumar, from Bengabad on Thursday night in connection with the alleged irregularities in the JSSC CGL examination. The CID team took him along for questioning. However, there has been no official confirmation of his arrest so far.
Sameer Kumar is reportedly a resident of the Pirtand area of Giridih district. The CID team, accompanied by Giridih and Bengabad police personnel, reached his residence in Bengabad on Thursday night and detained him. His mobile phone and some documents were also seized.
Earlier, the CID had detained Vikas Pandey, brother-in-law of alleged mastermind Abhay Tiwari, from his in-laws' residence in Hathiyari, Bengabad. He was subsequently released after questioning.
