Ranchi: Following a meeting of its state committee, the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) organised a protest outside the CCL headquarters against war and the economic sanctions imposed on Cuba by the United States. The demonstration was part of the observance of Cuba Solidarity Week.
Protesters raised slogans such as “Down with imperialism,” “Raise your voice against war,” and “Lift the blockade on Cuba,” expressing solidarity with the Cuban people.
CITU leaders said that, on the call of the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU), Cuba Solidarity Week is being observed worldwide from April 6 to 10. The campaign aims to support Cuba against the US blockade, oppose foreign intervention, and stand in solidarity with its people.
They added that the initiative is being carried out by left and trade union organisations to demand an end to US sanctions on Cuba and to uphold the country’s sovereignty.
The protest was led by CITU state president Arup Chatterjee and general secretary Vishwajit Dev.
