SP Harvinder Singh Addresses Press; ₹4.29 Crore Bokaro Treasury Fraud Unearthed on DC Ajay Nath Jha’s Strict Probe Directive

DSP Alok Ranjan joins briefing; 63 fraudulent transactions across three financial years exposed

Bokaro, April 7: Leading the media briefing, SP Harvinder Singh on Tuesday detailed the investigation into the ₹4.29 crore treasury fraud case, confirming the arrest of an accountant following strict directions from Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha. DSP Alok Ranjan was also present during the press conference.

SP Harvinder Singh stated that the accused, Kaushal Kumar Pandey, carried out 63 fraudulent transactions amounting to ₹4,29,71,007 over three financial years (2023–24 to 2025–26). The fraud was executed by manipulating official records and misusing the identity of a government employee who had retired in 2016.

The SP emphasized that the probe was conducted strictly as per the DC’s directive, with technical scrutiny of the e-Kuber DDO Level Bill Management System playing a key role in uncovering the scam. The siphoned funds were routed into a bank account linked to the accused’s family.

DSP Alok Ranjan informed that crucial digital evidence, including mobile phones, has been seized and sent for forensic analysis. Police have registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and stated that further investigation is underway to trace any wider nexus and fix accountability.
