CPI(ML) Calls for Intensifying Struggle to Fulfil Ambedkar’s Unfinished Dreams

Ranchi: The state office of CPI(ML) on Tuesday observed the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar along with the martyrdom day of prominent left movement leader Gurudas Chatterjee.

The programme began with floral tributes to Dr. Ambedkar’s statue near the High Court in Dhurwa. Party leaders and members paid homage, remembering his contribution to the nation.

A meeting held later at the party office included a reading of Dr. Ambedkar’s final speech in the Constituent Assembly, followed by a detailed discussion on the relevance of his ideas in the present socio-political context. Speakers highlighted that Ambedkar played a foundational role in shaping modern India and envisioned a society based on equality, justice and fraternity.

They noted that the caste system continues to be a deeply entrenched oppressive structure in Indian society. Ambedkar, they said, devoted his life to the upliftment of Dalits, the marginalized and to ensuring women’s equality.

Paying tribute to Gurudas Chatterjee, speakers recalled his leadership in struggles against land and coal mafias, describing him as a popular mass leader.

The speakers alleged that caste discrimination, social inequality and divisive politics are on the rise. They expressed concern over increasing incidents of discrimination in educational institutions and said that youth are being diverted from core issues such as education and employment.

The meeting called for spreading Ambedkar’s ideas among the masses and intensifying the struggle to realise his unfinished dreams.

Several leaders, including Manoj Bhakt, Shubhendu Sen, R.N. Singh and Trilokinath, were present on the occasion.
