Ranchi: Ms. Swati Sharma, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, met Jharkhand’s Minister for Rural Development, Rural Works and Panchayati Raj, Deepika Pandey Singh, at her residential office in Ranchi on Monday. During the meeting, a detailed review of the progress of various rural development schemes being implemented in the state was undertaken, with a focus on ensuring their effective execution.
The meeting reviewed the performance of several key programmes, including the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) and VB-GRAMG. Discussions centered on prioritizing Jharkhand’s developmental needs, strengthening coordination between the Centre and the State, and maximizing the reach and benefits of government schemes in rural areas.
The two sides also deliberated on measures to strengthen rural livelihoods through enhanced participation of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Farmer Producer Organizations/Companies (FPOs/FPCs). Emphasis was laid on livelihood promotion, infrastructure development, and coordinated efforts to reinforce the rural economy.
Speaking on the occasion, Rural Development Minister Deepika Pandey Singh said that the state government is committed to ensuring effective coordination with the Centre so that the benefits of rural development programmes reach the last person in society in a transparent, efficient, and timely manner. She expressed confidence that collaborative efforts would provide a fresh impetus to inclusive and sustainable rural development in Jharkhand.
MGNREGA Commissioner Mrityunjay Kumar Barnwal and Chief Executive Officer of the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS), Ananya Mittal, were also present at the meeting.
