Ranchi: A delegation of blood donation activists and representatives of families affected by blood disorders, led by Lahu Bolega, met the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly's Government Assurances Committee and submitted two separate memorandums highlighting issues related to healthcare services, blood donation management, and administrative functioning.
The meeting followed the committee's review of a memorandum submitted on June 25, 2026, by Lahu Bolega Blood Donation Organisation, the Jharkhand State Voluntary Blood Donation Organisation Coordination Committee, and the Jharkhand Thalassemia, Sickle Cell Anaemia, Haemophilia and Aplastic Anaemia Patients' Association. The delegation expressed gratitude to the committee for taking up the matter.
After the review meeting, the delegation submitted two memorandums in the presence of Government Assurances Committee Chairman Arup Chatterjee and committee member and Ramgarh MLA Mamta Devi. The first
memorandum highlighted issues concerning the Health Department along with the Social Welfare, Disability Welfare, Women and Child Development, Youth, Education, Railways and Food Supply departments. The second memorandum focused on the functioning, alleged administrative lapses and lack of accountability of the Principal Secretary (Additional Chief Secretary) of the Health Department.
The delegation included Nadeem Khan, Founder and State Convener of Lahu Bolega; Sapan Kumar Mahato, Kolhan In-charge and blood donation organiser; Sanjay Toppo, Convener of the Jharkhand Thalassemia Patients' Association; Anup Kumar Mahato, Gopal Chandra Mahato, Khudiram Mahato, Babbar, and Sajid Umar.
According to the delegation, the committee assured them that the concerns raised in both memorandums would receive due consideration and necessary action. They also claimed that senior Health Department officials were unable to provide satisfactory responses or complete information on several key issues during the meeting. The committee is expected to convene another meeting soon to review the pending matters and ensure appropriate follow-up.
