Scientists Share Innovations at Two-Day International Workshop in Ranchi



Ranchi: A two-day international workshop on “Understanding Complex Systems (Applications to Environmental Sustainability and Advanced Materials)” was organized on March 18–19, 2026, with the aim of promoting a scientific approach in the fields of environmental sustainability and advanced materials.



The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Nishi Srivastava from the Department of Physics, while Dr. Neelima Sharma from the Department of Pharmaceutical and Technology served as the co-coordinator.
The inaugural session was addressed by Dr. Ashok Sheron, Dean of Faculty Affairs, who emphasized the importance of studying complex systems in addressing contemporary scientific challenges.



The first lecture of the workshop was delivered by Prof. Ille C. Gebeshuber from TU Wien (Vienna University of Technology), Austria. Speaking on “Learning from Nature: Functional Structures in Bio-based and Biodegradable Materials,” she highlighted the role of nature-inspired structures in developing sustainable and eco-friendly materials. Her lecture inspired participants to explore new dimensions of research.



The workshop witnessed active participation from experts, researchers, and students, who engaged in discussions on various aspects of advanced materials and environmental sustainability. The event proved to be significant in providing new directions for scientific research.
