New DIC Priya Ranjan Charts Inclusive Growth Roadmap For Bokaro Steel City

Safety, Expansion and Community Partnership Anchoring The Development Vision

Future Bright Bokaro — Built By All, For All

Bokaro Steel City is witnessing a renewed development momentum under the leadership of newly appointed Director In-Charge (DIC) Priya Ranjan, whose approach places safety, expansion and inclusive growth at the centre of the plant’s long-term vision. The emerging direction reflects the belief that the progress of Bokaro Steel Plant should not be measured solely through production achievements but through the opportunities and participation it creates for the wider community.

Bokaro has always been more than an industrial complex. It stands as a city shaped by industrial pride, community resilience and collective aspirations. Under the leadership of the new DIC, the plant management has begun translating this philosophy into concrete initiatives aimed at ensuring that development reaches every section connected with the steel city.

A key focus has been creating opportunities for local youth. Apprentices who have completed their training are being linked to plant-related work through contractors, enabling skilled youth to convert their training into meaningful employment. More than 100 such youths have already been engaged, while the process is underway to provide opportunities to around 125 more within the next one to two months.

Alongside this, displaced contractors are being accorded priority in the allocation of plant works. The initiative is aimed at strengthening economic participation of communities affected by industrial expansion while reinforcing the partnership between the steel plant and the surrounding areas.

Recognising the contribution of the local community in the growth of the steel city, construction of Kritagyata Park is currently underway in Sector 11. The park is envisioned as a tribute to residents whose support and cooperation played a significant role in the establishment and expansion of Bokaro Steel Plant.

Plant management has also been maintaining continuous engagement with local stakeholders including public representatives, district administration, trade unions, contractors, displaced families and civil society groups. The objective is to ensure that community perspectives remain an integral part of development planning.

With the proposed capacity expansion of the plant on the horizon, Bokaro is expected to witness new opportunities in employment, entrepreneurship and regional development. Such large-scale progress will require coordinated efforts and active participation from all stakeholders.

Bokaro Steel City is thus entering a phase where industrial advancement is closely aligned with social participation and community empowerment. The broader prospects of Bokaro’s growth can be fully realised when all sections of society join hands and work collectively towards a shared vision for the future of the steel city.
