Laparoscopic Hernia Workshop Held at Bokaro General Hospital

 


Hands-on training and live demonstrations enhance surgical expertise in advanced minimally invasive techniques


Bokaro, March 19, 2026: A laparoscopic hernia workshop was successfully conducted at the Operation Theatre Complex of Bokaro General Hospital, aimed at upgrading the surgical skills of doctors and postgraduate trainees. The workshop focused on advanced minimally invasive techniques, including TEP and TAPP for inguinal hernia, and IPOM for incisional and ventral hernia repair.


Renowned GI surgeon Dr Vaibhav Sharma from Medanta Hospital, Gurugram, participated as guest faculty, sharing his expertise through live surgical demonstrations, expert lectures, and interactive sessions. The programme highlighted the latest innovations and best practices in laparoscopic hernia surgery.


The initiative reflects the hospital’s continued commitment to advancing surgical education and improving patient care through modern techniques. The General Surgery Department, led by Dr Anand Prakash, has been consistently performing a range of laparoscopic procedures, further strengthening its capabilities.


The workshop was coordinated by Dr Anind Mandal, Dr Anand Prakash, Dr Shravan Kumar, and Dr Nilay Kumar, under the guidance of senior medical officials. General surgeons, DNB residents, and healthcare professionals actively participated, gaining practical insights into evolving hernia treatment techniques.
