Ranchi: At Birsa Munda Airport, the Hon’ble President of India, Droupadi Murmu, was accorded a warm and dignified farewell. On the occasion, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and the State’s Minister for Rural Development, Rural Works and Panchayati Raj, Mrs. Deepika Pandey Singh, presented the President with a special gift from the ‘Palash’ brand, thoughtfully prepared by members of the state’s Sakhi Mandals (women’s self-help groups).
The ‘Palash’ brand stands as a strong symbol of the commitment, hard work, and self-reliance of Jharkhand’s women. Thousands of women associated with Sakhi Mandals are producing quality goods based on local resources, thereby strengthening not only their livelihoods but also the rural economy of the state. From food products to handicrafts and daily-use items, ‘Palash’ is steadily becoming synonymous with reliability and quality, establishing its presence in households across the region.
The Department of Rural Development is providing training, marketing platforms, and institutional support to these self-help groups to ensure women’s economic empowerment. ‘Palash’ is not merely a brand but a powerful movement advancing the vision of a self-reliant Jharkhand.
The Jharkhand government has appealed to the people of the state to adopt local products and promote indigenous brands like ‘Palash’, so that community empowerment and the local economy may reach new heights.
