Governor Calls NSS Volunteers’ Achievements a Matter of Pride for the State

Ranchi: Hon’ble Governor Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar, while interacting with outstanding volunteers of the National Service Scheme (NSS) at Lok Bhavan, Ranchi today, said that the achievements of NSS volunteers are a matter of great pride for the entire state.

He noted that some volunteers have had the honour of being felicitated by the Hon’ble President of India. Several volunteers represented Jharkhand at the Republic Day Parade Camp–2026 held in New Delhi, while others participated as special guests in Republic Day and Independence Day celebrations. These accomplishments reflect their commitment, discipline, and spirit of service.

Expressing happiness, the Governor stated that volunteers from Jharkhand also got the opportunity to present their ideas before Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi during the ‘Viksit Bharat Young Leader Dialogue–2026’. He said this is not only an individual achievement but also a proud moment for the state.

The Governor emphasised that the core motto of NSS, “Not Me, But You,” inspires youth to develop a sense of service, compassion, and social responsibility. He appreciated the active role played by NSS volunteers in cleanliness drives, blood donation camps, environmental protection, rural development, disaster relief, and social awareness programmes.

He also praised the volunteers’ participation in the blood donation camp organised at Lok Bhavan on the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

The Governor said that selection for the Republic Day Parade Camp symbolises discipline, leadership qualities, and patriotism. On this occasion, he also congratulated Jharkhand students for their excellent performance in the National Band Competition held in New Delhi.

It is noteworthy that Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Kanke (Girls’ Pipe Band) and Kairali School, Sector-2 (Boys’ Pipe Band) emerged as winners, while St. Xavier High School, Lupungutu, Chaibasa secured third place in the Brass Band (Boys’ category), bringing laurels to the state.

The Governor urged the volunteers to take this honour as a greater responsibility and continue contributing actively towards society and nation-building. Quoting Swami Vivekananda’s inspiring words, “Arise, awake and stop not till the goal is achieved,” he encouraged the youth to strive continuously for excellence.

At the end of the programme, the Governor felicitated the volunteers and wished them a bright future.
