Ranchi: The demand to include villages of the Bokaro North region under the Panchayati Raj system has been pending for many years. This issue has earlier been raised in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, yet no concrete action has been taken so far. Instead of working in accordance with the demands and sentiments of the displaced people, the Bokaro Deputy Commissioner has recently executed deeds in favour of SAIL for the concerned villages, which is a grave injustice to the displaced communities.
These remarks were made by CPI (ML) MLA from Nirsa, Arup Chatterjee, while addressing a meeting of displaced people at Borwaghat in Pachoura, Bokaro North. He stated that the demand to bring the displaced villages of Bokaro North under the Panchayati Raj system would be strongly raised during the upcoming budget session of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly.
Arup Chatterjee made it clear that until all 19 villages under six Panchayats are included in the Panchayati Raj system, he and his party will stand firmly with the displaced people in their struggle. Calling for unity, he said that as long as the displaced people remain divided and weak, the issue will persist. The day they unite and rise as a strong collective force, no power will be able to prevent these villages from being brought under the Panchayati Raj system.
The meeting was also addressed by CPI (ML) Polit Bureau member Janardan Prasad, State Standing Committee member Bhuvneshwar Kevat, District Secretary Dev Dweep Singh Diwakar, Dilip Tiwari, Binod Rai, and several other leaders. The programme was presided over by Istiyaq Ansari, while Bheem Rajak conducted the proceedings.
During the meeting, an 11-member committee was formed, comprising Istiyaq Ansari, Binod Rai, Ganesh Chandra De, Kamal Khan, Gulam Hussain, Ishaq Ansari, Raju Napit, Umesh Chandra Singh, Shamim Ansari, along with other displaced representatives.
