Important Jales Ranchi Meeting Held on Short Story Competition and Foundation Day





Ranchi: An organizational meeting of Janwadi Lekhak Sangh (Jales), Ranchi, was held on January 25 at the Safdar Hashmi Auditorium, Main Road, Ranchi, under the chairmanship of Dr. Jamshed Qamar. The meeting focused on detailed discussions regarding the celebration of the Foundation Day and the organization of a Hindi Short Story Competition.



It was unanimously decided that Jales’ Foundation Day would be celebrated on February 15, on which a multilingual poetry symposium would also be organized. To ensure smooth execution of the events, an eight-member Organizing Committee was constituted under the leadership of Veena Srivastava.



In collaboration with Sat Prakashan, Jales Ranchi announced the organization of a Hindi Short Story Competition. Cash prizes of ₹5,100, ₹3,100, and ₹1,100 will be awarded to the first, second, and third prize-winning entries respectively. The awards will be presented during a felicitation ceremony to be held on March 8, on the occasion of International Women’s Day.




The competition will be open to all and no entry fee will be charged.



(However, writers and literary figures associated with Jales or Sat Prakashan will not be eligible to participate.)




The meeting also resolved to launch a membership drive of Jales in Ranchi.




Addressing the gathering, Jales Secretary M. Z. Khan highlighted the objectives of the organization, stating that Jales is working to strengthen social commitment through literature and will actively promote Hindi, Urdu, as well as tribal and regional languages, in order to preserve and reinforce linguistic unity in Ranchi and across Jharkhand.




The meeting was also addressed by Veena Srivastava, Jamshed Qamar, Yasmin Lal, and Rita Soreng.



Prominent attendees included Ramdev Badaik, Ravi Kumar, Firdaus Jahan, Syed Uzair Ahmed, Abu Nasr, and Tariq Wajdan, along with other writers and members.
