Dumka: Hon’ble Governor and Chancellor of Jharkhand’s universities, Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar, attended the 9th Convocation of Sido-Kanhu Murmu University held today at the Convention Centre, Agro Park, S.P. College Road, Dumka. He extended heartfelt congratulations to all graduating students and research scholars receiving their degrees.
Paying tribute to the great freedom fighters Sido and Kanhu, the Governor said that the Santhal Rebellion—Hul Kranti—is a golden chapter of India’s freedom movement, which stands as a remarkable example of courage, self-respect, and unity. He urged the students of the university to continually draw inspiration from these valiant leaders.
The Governor stated that a convocation is not merely a formality but the beginning of greater responsibilities. The degree symbolizes the hard work of students, the sacrifices of parents, and the dedicated guidance of teachers. He called upon the students to use their knowledge and skills for the welfare of society.
He emphasized that the university is not only a center of higher education but also a guardian of the culture, heritage, and traditions of the tribal community. Expanding access to higher education in tribal regions and promoting research based on local issues, he said, are important responsibilities of universities. He encouraged students to take the lead in finding solutions related to agriculture, health, environmental conservation, rural development, and social challenges.
The Governor said that education is truly meaningful only when it brings positive change in the lives of villagers, the poor, the underprivileged, and tribal communities. He added that the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s resolve to make India a developed nation by 2047 will be accomplished only when universities prioritize innovation, research, skill development, and effective academic practices. He expressed confidence that the youth of Jharkhand, with their energy, ability, and determination, will significantly contribute to this nation-building mission.
The Governor advised students to move forward with honesty, sensitivity, and a strong sense of duty, stating that “true success is that which elevates not only oneself but also the society and the nation.”
In conclusion, the Governor congratulated the university administration, teachers, and staff for the successful organization of the convocation and conveyed his best wishes for the university’s progress. Wishing all graduating students a bright future, he said that with their work, dedication, and moral values, they will create a new identity not only for Jharkhand but for the entire nati
