Visually Impaired Boy Regains Sight Through Boxa Trust Initiative

In an inspiring act of social service, Boxa Trust has once again set an example of humanity. Through a free cataract surgery camp organized in collaboration with Shankar Nethralaya, a visually impaired boy, Maysa Pahariya, has regained his vision.

The camp was held from June 16 to 26, 2025, in Barhait with the full support of Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Seventeen-year-old Maysa, who was blind since childhood, had attended the camp with his mother, Surja Pahariya. Due to the complexity of his condition, his surgery could not be done immediately.

Trustee Kapil Dev Bhagat brought the matter to the attention of Boxa Trust Chairman Mahesh Kumar Gupta and Arvind Chopra, who took the initiative forward with full dedication. Their continued efforts led to a successful surgery of Maysa’s right eye at Lokeshwarananda Eye Foundation, Purulia, on October 16, 2025.

The surgery had initially been scheduled for October 13 but was postponed due to the unavailability of a special lens. Now, for the first time in his life, Maysa can see light. The operation on his other eye will be conducted next week.

Several individuals, including Mahesh Sharma, Tej Bahadur Singh, Alok Jain, and Amardeep, contributed to the success of this noble mission.

Expressing gratitude to all, Boxa Trust stated that this success reaffirms its mission — “Bringing light to every life in need.” The Trust reiterated its commitment to continue such selfless service in the future.
