Ranchi::A meeting of the Interfaith Harmony Committee was held today at Bihar Club, Ranchi, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate Shri Manjunath Bhajantri. The meeting discussed preparations to ensure that upcoming festivals, especially Durga Puja, are celebrated with peace, harmony, and cooperation.

Expressing gratitude to the committee members, Shri Bhajantri said, “In Ranchi district, all festivals are celebrated with social harmony and peace. This has been made possible by the tireless efforts of the administration and the harmony committee. Ranchi today sets a fine example for the entire country.”
He emphasized the need for extra vigilance during Durga Puja, warning that “some mischievous elements may try to exaggerate minor incidents to disturb social harmony. In such situations, committee members must immediately inform the administration.”
Security and Monitoring Arrangements
The Deputy Commissioner informed that CCTV cameras have been installed at key locations, with continuous monitoring being done through the control room. He also urged committee members to actively participate in community surveillance.
Strict Compliance with Noise Pollution and Safety Norms
Referring to the Hon’ble High Court’s guidelines, Shri Bhajantri directed strict adherence to noise pollution rules. He also stressed the importance of electrical and fire safety.
He said, “Large crowds and processions during the Puja may cause traffic congestion and other issues, but these can be managed with discipline and planning. If festivals are celebrated with discipline, Ranchi can be made the number one district in the country.”
Police to Take Strict Action Against Miscreants
Senior Superintendent of Police Shri Rakesh Ranjan assured that “Ranchi Police is fully alert. Anyone attempting to disturb communal harmony will face strict action.” He appealed to all citizens to maintain peace, cooperation, and brotherhood.

Shamsher Alam, Dr. Ajit Sahay, Chairman of Cow Service Commission Shri Rajeev Ranjan, former MLA and Ranchi Metropolitan Durga Puja Coordinator Shri Jai Prakash Gupta, Mahavir Mandal President Shri Jai Singh Yadav, Central Peace Committee member Shri Sagar Kumar, Anjuman President Haji Mukhtar, Harmony Committee member Md. Islam, along with other peace committee members and community representatives.
