SFI Holds State-Level Convention

Ranchi, Maithon (Dhanbad), 30th August 2025:Amidst the slogans of Padhai-Ladai Saath (Study and Struggle Together) and SFI Zindabad (Long Live SFI), the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) resolved to build a strong organization of students in Jharkhand. The convention began with the hoisting of SFI’s white flag, inscribed with the words Independence, Democracy, and Socialism.

Inaugural Address:The convention was inaugurated by Shri Srijan Bhattacharya, the All India General Secretary of SFI. In his opening speech, he discussed in detail the challenges facing the education sector. He called for the student community to build a strong wall of resistance against the ongoing commercialization, privatization, and communalization of education by the ruling classes.
Modern India and Education:Bhattacharya highlighted the attempts by the central government to bypass science and logic in favor of unscientific and regressive beliefs. He said, "Equipping the new generation with scientific consciousness is an important responsibility of progressive student organizations in the making of modern India."

State of Higher Education:He held the central government’s anti-people policies responsible for the deplorable state of higher education. He added, “Today, universities, the centers of knowledge, are being turned into supporters of divisive and communal ideologies under a conspiracy." He also criticized the infiltration of the Sangh Parivar in organizations like UGC, the Science Congress, and the History Congress.
Participation in the Convention:The convention saw the participation of 67 students from 14 colleges and two universities across 10 districts of Jharkhand.
Organizational Changes:The convention unanimously formed a 15-member Jharkhand State Organizational Committee, with Danish Khan elected as the State Convenor. The convention was chaired by Mohammad Haider.
