MLA Shweta Singh Fulfills Long-Standing Demand of Displaced Families in Bokaro

Bokaro, August 9 — In a long-awaited breakthrough, 19 displaced villages in Bokaro district will soon be part of 6 newly created panchayats, marking a major step toward formal recognition and development of communities uprooted over six decades ago.

The villages, displaced in 1961 due to land acquisition for the Steel Authority of India, have long been without basic governance structures. The move comes after sustained pressure from Bokaro MLA Shweta Singh, who has raised the issue repeatedly in the legislative assembly.

A delegation from affected villages — including Pachora, Vaidyamara, Kanfatta, and Vasteji — met Singh to thank her for her advocacy. Singh, calling the cause her “moral responsibility,” met with Bokaro Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha to push for early completion of land mutation, digitization of records, and submission of a proposal under DPLR to speed up the process.

The Deputy Commissioner assured that the administration is fully committed to ensuring justice for displaced families and integrating them into the fold of governance and development.

The new panchayats are expected to improve access to health care, education, roads, electricity, and government welfare schemes — finally giving these villages the administrative attention they’ve lacked for decades
