Ranchi: The CID, which is investigating alleged irregularities and malpractice in examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC), has uncovered fresh evidence related to the alleged collection of money from candidates.
According to the preliminary findings of the investigation, around ₹15 crore was allegedly collected from candidates in exchange for helping them clear examinations and secure selection. The amount could increase further once the investigation is completed.
The CID reportedly obtained the information from statements of arrested accused persons, facts that emerged during interrogation and documents recovered during raids. The investigating agency is now tracing the money trail. Statements of candidates who allegedly paid money will also be recorded and verified. The CID is also expected to seek information from banks regarding transactions linked to the case.
Around 400 Candidates Allegedly Benefited in JPSC Examinations
The investigation has so far indicated that around 400 candidates may have been helped through alleged manipulation or other illegal means in various JPSC examinations.
These reportedly include around 100 candidates in the ASF and FAO examinations, around 100 in the 14th JPSC examination and around 100 in the JPSC backlog recruitment. Similar allegations have also surfaced in the 11th to 13th JPSC examinations and other recruitment examinations.
According to the investigation, 19 of the candidates from whom money was allegedly collected also cleared the examinations.
₹5 Lakh from General Category Candidates for Preliminary Test
According to the findings emerging from the investigation, candidates were allegedly charged ₹5 lakh each from the General category and ₹2 lakh to ₹3 lakh from candidates belonging to other categories for helping them clear the preliminary tests of the FAO and ASF examinations.
The investigation has further indicated that around ₹70 lakh from the collected amount was allegedly paid to Ramveer Singh.
For clearing the Main examination, candidates were allegedly charged ₹40 lakh each, according to the preliminary findings.
₹15 Lakh for Interview, up to ₹70 Lakh for Final Selection
The CID investigation has also uncovered alleged financial transactions linked to the 11th to 13th Civil Services examinations. Candidates were allegedly charged ₹15 lakh each for ensuring success at the interview stage, while ₹60 lakh to ₹70 lakh was allegedly demanded for final selection.
In the CDPO examination, candidates were allegedly charged ₹10 lakh each, according to the investigation.
JSSC Examinations Also Under Investigation
The CID has also brought various examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) under its investigative lens in connection with allegations of irregularities and attempts to provide undue benefits to candidates.
The agency is examining whether an organised network was involved in manipulating JPSC and JSSC examinations and is trying to establish the role of individuals allegedly connected with the irregularities.
CID Traces Money Trail
The investigation agency is now working to establish the complete trail of the alleged financial transactions. Statements of arrested accused persons, documents recovered during searches and statements of candidates are being examined to verify the amount allegedly collected and the role of different individuals.
The CID is also examining bank transactions to establish the movement of the money. Officials indicated that the total amount involved and the number of people linked to the case could rise further as the investigation progresses.
