Youth Donate Blood for Thalassemia Patients Despite Storm and Heavy Rain in Ranchi

Ranchi::A three-day special blood donation camp for A Positive and AB Positive donors is being organized from May 12 to 14 at Sadar Hospital Blood Bank in Ranchi following an appeal by mothers of thalassemia patients. The camp is being conducted under the joint leadership of “Lahoo Bolega” Blood Donation Organization, Ranchi, and Jharkhand Thalassemia Patients Association.

Despite stormy weather and heavy rain on Tuesday, blood donors actively participated in the special donation drive held between 3 PM and 5 PM. During the camp, donors of AB Positive and A Positive blood groups came forward to donate blood for thalassemia-affected children, setting an example of humanity and social responsibility.

Members of the organization stated that Ranchi has been facing a severe shortage of A Positive and AB Positive blood for the past several months. Patients suffering from thalassemia, sickle cell anemia, hemophilia, and aplastic anemia require two to three units of blood every month. It is estimated that there are nearly 2,100 such patients in Ranchi district alone, while the number across Jharkhand exceeds 11,000.

The organization appealed to the public to support the emotional plea of mothers of thalassemia patients by participating in the special blood donation drive at Sadar Hospital Blood Bank and helping save the lives of needy patients.

On the occasion, donors Qabil Hussain, Nikhil Sharma, and Pawan Kumar donated blood. Present at the camp were thalassemia patient Sujata Kumari, single mother Bimla Kachhap, Pandit Ajit Mishra, Sanjay Mahto, and members of “Lahoo Bolega” including Nadeem Khan, Qabil Hussain, Imtiyaj Sonu, and Sajid Umar.
