Abolition of Non-Teaching Posts Regressive: CPI(M)

Ranchi: CPI(M) state secretary Prakash Viplav has expressed concern over the poor utilisation of MPs’ Local Area Development funds in Jharkhand, terming it a result of administrative apathy and lack of accountability. He said that although ₹140.87 crore has been allocated to 14 Members of Parliament in the state, only about 10 per cent—around ₹14 crore—has been utilised so far.

He stated that despite administrative approvals, delays in the execution of projects have become a major hurdle in the state’s development. He demanded that responsibility be fixed and action taken against those accountable for the delay.

The CPI(M) also criticised the state government’s decision to abolish regular non-teaching posts in universities and replace them with an outsourcing system. The party termed the move regressive, particularly in the context of Ranchi University, where fourth-grade posts are being phased out.

Prakash Viplav said that a large number of such workers are already engaged through outsourcing, and the new decision would further increase their numbers while weakening their social and economic security.

According to media reports, the state government has abolished 1,851 non-teaching posts under a restructuring exercise across the university headquarters, 14 constituent colleges and 10 degree colleges. CPI(M) has urged the government to reconsider its decision.
