Ranchi: The 7th Governing Body meeting of the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS) was held at the FFP Building in Ranchi. The meeting was chaired by Jharkhand’s Minister for Rural Development, Rural Works and Panchayati Raj, Mrs. Deepika Pandey Singh.
Several important proposals related to rural livelihoods, women’s empowerment, and effective implementation of government schemes were discussed and approved during the meeting. The Minister laid special emphasis on making women’s livelihoods more sustainable and stronger.
It was decided that women associated with Self-Help Groups (SHGs) will undertake the production of various government supply requirements such as sanitary napkins, notebooks and bags for schools, mid-day meal materials, milk, fruits, vegetables, and other essential items. This initiative is expected to provide rural women with stable income opportunities and help them become economically self-reliant.
The meeting also agreed that JSLPS will function as an independent society and strengthen coordination with various government departments. With the support of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), further steps will be taken to improve women’s livelihoods, health, and basic needs.
A decision was also taken to expand the Micro-Lift Irrigation projects currently operational in 10 blocks to 50 blocks in the coming year. After access to irrigation facilities, women’s horticulture activities have improved significantly, and in several cases, their income has increased up to five times.
The Minister directed officials to ensure transparency, timely implementation, and result-oriented functioning in all schemes. She stressed the need to speed up ongoing work, resolve pending issues, and remove procedural shortcomings for better outcomes.
