Ranchi::With the demand to end caste-based discrimination and harassment in higher educational institutions, ensure effective implementation of the UGC Regulation–2026 and enact the Rohith
Act as a law, student organisations, intellectuals, and social groups from across the country formed the All India Samta Manch in Delhi on February 8. In continuation of this initiative, an important meeting of various student organisations in Jharkhand was held on Monday.
The meeting took place at Jacob Hall in Shyam Prasad Mukherjee University, Ranchi, where participants discussed upcoming programmes and the future course of the movement under the banner of the All India Samta Manch in Jharkhand.
A five-member presidium committee was constituted during the meeting, comprising Daya Ram, Sanjana Mehta, Bablu Mandal, Aitesham Praveen, and Shehnawaz Hussain.
It was unanimously decided that demonstrations would be organised on February 13 across 100 university campuses nationwide under the banner of the Samta Manch. In the same series, an All India Protest Day will be observed in Ranchi as well as in all universities and colleges across Jharkhand. Through these protests, a strong nationwide voice will be raised against caste-based discrimination prevailing in university campuses.
Speakers stated that institutional discrimination against Dalit, Adivasi, backward-class, and minority students in universities will no longer be tolerated, and that an organised, democratic, and continuous struggle will be carried forward against such practices.
The All India Samta Manch clarified that strengthening the fight for social justice, equality, and dignity, while ensuring the implementation of UGC Regulation–2026 and the enactment of the Rohith Act, will remain the central objective of the movement.
Leaders from Adivasi Student Organisation, AISA, CRJD, AISF, Chhatra RJD, MSF, and the Mulvasi Vidyarthi Sangh actively participated in the meeting. Meanwhile, organisations such as NSUI, JCM, and SFI extended their support to the initiative.
Prominent attendees included AISA State Secretary Triloki Nath, Adivasi Student Union leaders Daya Ram, Badal Bhogta, Wasim Ansari, Rakesh Raushan, Abhishek Anand, along with Vijay Kumar, Shalin Gop, Anurag Rai, Chhatra RJD leader Anand Yadav, AISF State Secretary Vikram Kumar, Afzal Durrani, and several other state- and district-level representatives of student organisations.
