People Will Respond to the Modi Government Through the February 12 Strike: CPI (ML)

Ranchi: The CPI (ML) State Committee, Jharkhand, has extended full support to the All-India General Strike on February 12, called by various trade unions. The party has appealed to the people of the state, including workers, farmers, youth, students, women, and mass organisations, to come out on the streets and make the strike successful.

The State Committee stated that the four labour codes being imposed by the Modi government are a direct attack on the rights of the working class. These laws weaken workers’ rights to form unions, unite, and struggle collectively. The party alleged that the real objective of these labour codes is to end permanent employment, promote contract-based and insecure jobs, increase working hours, and remove legal protections for workers.

CPI (ML) also described the weakening of MGNREGA as a major assault on rural poor communities. The party said that new schemes are being introduced to take away the legal rights of rural workers and make them dependent on government discretion.

The committee further criticised the government’s recent deal with the United States, calling it a threat to India’s economic sovereignty. It warned that opening the way for subsidised foreign agricultural imports would push Indian farmers into unequal and destructive competition.

CPI (ML) asserted that the people will give a strong reply to these policies through the February 12 strike.
