Ranchi: In the gracious presence of the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, the Governor of Jharkhand, Santosh Kumar Gangwar, on Thursday addressed the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the “Shri Jagannath Spiritual and Cultural Charitable Centre” at Kadma in Jamshedpur.
The Governor said that the Steel City is not merely an industrial hub but a living symbol of discipline, hard work, service and social responsibility. The city’s identity is closely associated with the globally renowned industrial conglomerate Tata Group, particularly Tata Steel. He noted that Jamsetji Tata’s vision extended beyond industrial progress and was deeply rooted in nation-building and social service. This, he said, is why Jamshedpur is regarded as a model city where industry and human values coexist in harmony.
Describing the establishment of a spiritual and cultural centre in the name of Lord Jagannath as highly meaningful, the Governor said the deity symbolizes compassion, inclusivity and public welfare. He added that the world-famous Rath Yatra originating from the Jagannath Temple, Puri represents faith and cultural vibrancy, binding people across regions, including Odisha and Jharkhand, in a shared spiritual tradition.
The Governor emphasized that faith transcends boundaries and strengthens social unity and national integration. He remarked that the foundation of this centre marks not merely the beginning of a building, but the establishment of enduring values of service, harmony and cultural ethos that will inspire future generations.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Governor said the country is progressing by harmonising development with heritage. He expressed confidence that the Shri Jagannath Spiritual and Cultural Charitable Centre would emerge as a confluence of devotion, culture and service, guiding society towards collective welfare.
