State-Level Executive Committee of Adivasi Democratic Rights Front Formed


Front to launch awareness campaign on delimitation issue

Ranchi : The Adivasi Democratic Rights Front held a meeting under the chairmanship of Bandhu Tirkey to discuss issues concerning the constitutional, democratic, social and political rights of the tribal community. The meeting discussed organisational expansion, key issues affecting tribal society and the strategy for future movements. A state-level executive committee was also constituted.




Shashi Panna and Laxminarayan Munda were appointed as the chief spokespersons of the Front.



The meeting described the proposed delimitation exercise as an important issue concerning the political representation and constitutional rights of the tribal community. It decided to launch a broad awareness campaign on its possible implications. The Front said it would seek necessary constitutional measures to safeguard tribal political representation, keeping in view the special constitutional status of areas covered under the Fifth Schedule.


The organisation also decided to strengthen its presence in all districts and blocks of the state and undertake public outreach on issues related to land, water, forests, language, culture and other constitutional rights.



The state executive committee includes representatives from different districts. Ranchi has Daya Mani Barla, Rama Khalkho, Laxminarayan Munda, Ajay Tirkey, Shashi Panna, Jyotsna Kerketta, Vasavi Kido, Alok Kujur, Neeraj Bhogta, Anil Amitabh Panna, Shiv Kachhap and Anil Oraon.



Representatives from Khunti, Gumla, Lohardaga, Simdega, Hazaribagh, Chatra, Ramgarh, Garhwa and Palamu have also been included in the committee. From Latehar, Chaibasa,


Jamshedpur, Saraikela-Kharsawan, Bokaro, Dumka, Jamtara, Deoghar, Pakur and Giridih, representatives including Ravishan Tudu, Stephen Marandi, Sunil Hembram, Deepika Besra, Anit Soren, Anjali Hansda and Anil Kol have been included.



According to the Front, district-level meetings will be organised across the state after Dussehra. The meetings will focus on strengthening the organisation at the village and block levels and preparing a roadmap for future democratic movements on delimitation and other tribal issues.
