Tribute to the Immortal Martyrs of Kharsawan, Special Commission to Be Constituted




Ranchi / Seraikela-Kharsawan:On the occasion of the 78th Martyrdom Day of the Kharsawan firing incident, a solemn and dignified atmosphere prevailed today at Shaheed Park in Kharsawan, Seraikela-Kharsawan district. Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren paid floral tributes at the Shaheed Memorial (Shaheed Bedi) and the martyr memorial at Veer Shaheed Kerse Munda Chowk, offering heartfelt homage to the immortal martyrs. A large number of local residents, public representatives, and administrative officials were present on the occasion.Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren said that the land of Jharkhand is a symbol of valor, struggle, and sacrifice. “The soil of Jharkhand is filled with stories of martyrdom. No other state has a history as rich as ours. We have survived because we fought,” he said. He emphasized that countless brave sons of the land sacrificed their lives to protect water, forests, land, and tribal identity, yet never bowed down or accepted defeat.




Special Commission to Honor the Descendants of Martyrs




Making a historic announcement on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the state government will constitute a special commission to identify and honor the descendants of the martyrs of the Kharsawan firing incident. He stated that the commission will include retired judges, local public representatives, and social activists. It will identify martyr families on the basis of official documents, historical records, and local traditions.The Chief Minister clarified that this initiative is not merely a tribute but a mission to preserve history. “It is our moral responsibility to ensure that the descendants of those whose sacrifices safeguarded Jharkhand’s identity and self-respect receive due honor, recognition, and necessary assistance,” he said. He added that all martyr families would be identified and honored ceremonially by next year.




Emotional Tribute to Guruji Shibu Soren


Remembering Guruji Shibu Soren, the architect of the Jharkhand movement, Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that although Guruji is no longer physically among us, his ideology and struggle will continue to guide future generations.
“We have lost a great tree under whose shade the tribal and indigenous communities found their path. Guruji was not merely a person but an ideology representing justice, equality, and self-respect,” he said. He added that Guruji’s lifelong struggle gave Jharkhand its identity and continues to inspire the people of the state.



PESA Act to Strengthen Village Self-Governance



The Chief Minister said that the state government has implemented the PESA Act in Jharkhand, which will empower Gram Sabhas and Panchayats. “This law is the foundation for protecting water, forests, and land. It will enable villagers to make decisions about their own resources,” he said.He further stated that a statewide awareness campaign will be launched to ensure that information related to the PESA Act reaches every village, enabling people to exercise their constitutional rights effectively.




25 Years of Jharkhand: A New Phase of Development




Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that Jharkhand has completed 25 years of statehood and is now moving forward on a new path of development and empowerment. He emphasized that education, employment, and social security remain the government’s top priorities.




Referring to the Guruji Credit Card Scheme, he said that students can avail education loans of up to ₹15 lakh at an interest rate of 4 percent, with repayment required only after securing employment. He also described the Chief Minister Maiyaan Samman Scheme as a strong example of women empowerment, stating that it has helped daughters of the state become educated, self-reliant, and socially empowered.



Wide Participation of Public Representatives and Citizens



On the occasion, Minister Shri Deepak Birua, Member of Parliament Mrs. Joba Manjhi, MLAs Shri Dashrath Gagrai, Shri Sukhram Uraon, Shri Samir Mohanty, Mrs. Savita Mahato, Shri Jagat Manjhi, and former MLA Shri Laxman Tudu, along with several other public representatives, were present. The Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, senior officials from various departments, and thousands of local residents also attended the program and paid homage to the martyrs of Kharsawan.
