Allegations of Discrimination in Scholarship Payments, AISA Submits Memorandum to Central Minister

Ranchi: A delegation of the All India Students’ Association (AISA) today submitted a memorandum to Hon’ble Union Minister of State Dr. Ramdas Athawale, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, in Delhi, demanding the immediate release of scholarships for SC and OBC students in Jharkhand, which have been withheld by the central government.

AISA stated that the Pre-Matric (Class 9–10) and Post-Matric scholarships for the academic sessions 2023–24, 2024–25, and 2025–26 have not been released in Jharkhand. The state government has clearly stated that the payment of scholarships has been delayed due to non-receipt of central funds. This directly affects students from economically weaker, Dalit, and backward communities, forcing many to drop out of their studies due to financial hardship.

AISA demanded that the central government immediately release the pending scholarship funds to the Jharkhand government to secure the educational future of lakhs of students. The organization also warned that if the matter is not resolved promptly, just as student protests have intensified on the streets of Jharkhand, similar protests will be launched in Delhi, for which the government will bear full responsibility.

During the submission of the memorandum, AISA Jharkhand State Secretary Triloki Nath, State President Vibha Pushpdeep, Delhi Secretary Abhigyan, Bihar State Secretary Dr. Sabbir, Uttar Pradesh Secretary Shivam Safeer, and Anubhav Kumar were present.
