Ranchi: The busy and accident-prone Nevari Chowk and Rampur Chowk in Ranchi are set for a major transformation. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will construct modern flyovers at both locations. The project, estimated to cost around ₹250 crore, has reached the final stage of the tender process, and construction work is expected to begin within this financial year.
Both intersections witness heavy traffic every day. Vehicles traveling between Kanke and Hazaribagh, as well as those moving from Jamshedpur to Hazaribagh, often face long traffic jams. Due to high-speed vehicles, complex road design, and increasing traffic pressure, the number of accidents at these points has been rising steadily. Based on demands from local residents and public representatives, NHAI approved the construction of flyovers after conducting a detailed survey.
According to NHAI officials, the flyovers at Nevari Chowk and Rampur Chowk will be built with modern designs and advanced technology. The project is expected to enhance road safety and ensure smoother traffic flow along the national highway.
The estimated duration for the completion of the project is two and a half years. During this period, alternative routes will be arranged for traffic management to minimize inconvenience to commuters. Officials also stated that all safety standards will be strictly followed during the construction phase.
Local residents have welcomed the decision, saying they have long been troubled by persistent traffic jams and frequent accidents. Long queues of vehicles were a common sight during office hours and school timings. The flyovers are expected to provide major relief and make commuting through these intersections much easier.
Once completed, the project will significantly improve connectivity between Ranchi, Hazaribagh, Jamshedpur, and surrounding regions. People will benefit from safer, faster, and uninterrupted travel. Local traders believe the project will also boost commercial activities by reducing travel time for goods transportation.
Overall, this project is set to become a major infrastructural milestone for Ranchi and the Hazaribagh region, bringing substantial improvements in traffic management in the coming years.
