Celebrating the Real Spirit of Real India

Bokaro Steel Plant Adds New Digital Edge to Its Sustainability Drive

Strengthening its commitment to environmental responsibility, SAIL/Bokaro Steel Plant has rolled out a specialised training programme on the Online Emission Monitoring System. The workshop began on 17 November at the Environment Conservation and Sustainability Department, with over 30 participants from various units.

SAIL-BSL follows a structured three-tier monitoring framework: regular sampling and analysis by its in-house Environmental Lab, third-party assessments by a NABL-accredited and MoEFCC-recognised agency, and 24×7 real-time tracking through 33 stack emission monitoring units and three effluent quality monitoring systems.

Experts from Envea India Pvt. Ltd. led the training, emphasising the role of accurate real-time data in enabling quick corrective action. DGM (Environment) Nitesh Ranjan introduced the programme, while CGM (Environment) Rajiv Srivastava inaugurated the session in the presence of GM (ECS) Priti Jha and project representative M.K. Singh.

The workshop includes hands-on sessions on operating and troubleshooting continuous emission monitoring systems installed across key units such as CO&CC, SP, RMP, BF, HSM, CRM-1, CRM-2 and CRM-3. Envea India’s Rahul Murlidhar Velhal and his team conducted detailed technical demonstrations.
