Agriculture Minister Takes Strict Stand: Last Chance for Negligent Officials to Improve

Ranchi: Jharkhand’s Minister of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperation, Shilpi Neha Tirkey, conducted a surprise inspection at the Agriculture Directorate on Monday and expressed strong displeasure over the department’s sluggish functioning. The Minister unexpectedly reached the Horticulture Directorate, where she held a detailed review meeting with officials of the Horticulture Department. During the meeting, the officials appeared unprepared and struggled to present data and progress reports related to ongoing schemes, which prompted the Minister’s dissatisfaction.

Minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey made it clear that departmental negligence would no longer be tolerated and that this was the officials’ last chance to improve. She added that the slow

pace of schemes cannot be corrected merelyby issuing show-cause notices or taking action; constructive thinking and a strong, result-oriented work plan are equally important.

During the surprise meeting, the Minister discussed in detail the obstacles preventing the effective ground-level implementation of various horticulture schemes. She instructed officials to prepare and submit updated data, progress reports, and future action plans within a fixed timeline.

She emphasized that any delay in tasks directly connected to farmers’ welfare is unacceptable and that the department is responsible for ensuring swift and effective implementation of all schemes at the grassroots level.

The Minister’s strict stance has created a stir among departmental officials, and it is expected that this will help accelerate the pace of horticulture-related projects.
