Ranchi :: Today, a massive resolution rally was organized by CPI(Marxist-Leninist) in Chalkari to mark the 35th martyrdom anniversary of Moher Tilak and Ramdas Ravidas, who were martyred during the historic “Dam Bandho, Kaam Do” rally held at Delhi’s Vote Club Ground in 1990.
With slogans like “Long live Martyrs Moher Tilak–Ramdas Ravidas”, “We will not tolerate attacks on the Constitution and democracy and "Electricity and water must be provided in displaced villages” the rally began at Puranadih and passed through main routes to reach Shaheed Chowk, where it transformed into a resolution assembly. Tributes were paid by garlanding the portraits of the martyrs, followed by a minute of silence.
The assembly opened with a revolutionary song, “Martyrs, Take the Red Salute”, performed by members of the Jharkhand Cultural Forum. Haldhar Mahto, a member of the CPI(ML) Politburo, said the central government is continuously attacking freedom of expression. Promises of “Good Days” and “Amrit Kaal” have failed, and the country is grappling with economic, political, and social crises. Social activists are being imprisoned to suppress people’s movements. Paying true tribute to the martyrs means the public must resist these anti-people policies.
Bhubneshwar Kevat stated that struggles fought at the cost of life continue to inspire generations. The “Dam Bandho, Kaam Do” rally symbolized the national demand for social justice and communal harmony for the poor.
The assembly was presided over by Fulendra Ravidas and conducted by local committee secretary Indradev Singh. Several leaders and family members of the martyrs attended along with hundreds of villagers, poor people, and party workers.
During the assembly, a seven-point political resolution was passed, which included key demands — unconditional release of social activist Sonam Wangchuk, provision of electricity and water in DRD project-affected villages, issuance of receipts for long-closed non-cultivable land, 75% employment guarantee for local youth in outsourcing and private companies, honor pensions for Jharkhand movement leaders, and issuance of “Guruji Medical Cards” worth 10 lakh rupees.
