In a rare and inspiring achievement, both Dr (Prof) Raju Vaishya and his son Dr Abhishek Vaish from Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi, have been named in the prestigious Stanford University’s “Top 2% Global Scientists List – 2025.” This global ranking, compiled by Stanford University, USA, and Elsevier BV, Netherlands, recognizes the most influential scientists across disciplines based on standardized citation indices.
This duo is among only 14 Indian orthopaedic surgeons to feature in the list this year. Notably, Prof. (Dr) Raju Vaishya has achieved this distinction for the sixth consecutive year and ranks at the top among all Indian orthopaedic surgeons in the 2025 list — a testament to his sustained research excellence and global impact.
A Senior Consultant in Orthopaedics & Joint Replacement at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, Prof. Vaishya is internationally recognized for his contributions to joint replacement, regenerative orthopaedics, and academic scholarship spanning over four decades. His son, Dr Abhishek Vaish, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the same institution, represents the next generation of clinical and research excellence, carrying forward the family’s legacy of innovation and evidence-based medicine.
Hon’ble Cabinet Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, and Textiles, Mr. Piyush Goyal, congratulated these scientists, describing their recognition as “a proud moment for Indian science and a reflection of our nation’s growing leadership in medical research.”
Expressing gratitude, Prof. Raju Vaishya said, “It is a great honour to be recognized alongside my son. This distinction underscores the value of lifelong learning and the importance of research in improving patient outcomes.”
Dr Abhishek Vaish added, “Being listed together with my father is truly special. It motivates me to continue contributing meaningfully to orthopaedic science and patient care.”
This rare father–son recognition highlights the academic strength of Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals and demonstrates India’s increasing presence on the global scientific map.
