Basanti Kumari Secures Place in Indian Team, Will Represent Jharkhand in Women’s 10,000-Meter Race



Ranchi: Under the aegis of the Department of Tourism, Art & Culture, Sports & Youth Affairs, Jharkhand, and the Athletics Federation of India (AFI), the upcoming SAFF Athletics Competition will be held from October 24 to 26 at Birsa Munda Stadium, Morabadi, Ranchi. For this competition, international athlete Basanti Kumari from West Singhbhum has been selected for the Indian team and will represent the country in the women’s 10,000-meter race.


Basanti Kumari, a resident of Kumar Dungi, Chaibasa, has delivered outstanding performances at both state and national levels. Recognizing her dedication and consistent hard work, she has earned a place in the Indian team for this international event.


On this achievement jharkhand , State Sports Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu said,


"Basanti Kumari’s selection for the Indian team is a proud moment for the athletes of our state. This is not only a result of her dedication and hard work but also brings a new identity to Jharkhand athletics on the national and international stage. We wish her the very
best for her future competitions."


Additionally, Secretary Manoj Kumar, Sports Director Shekhar Jamuar, Chairman of the Jharkhand Athletics Association Planning Committee Dr. Madhukant Pathak, JAA President C.D. Singh, Secretary S.K. Pandey, District Sports Officer of West Singhbhum Prabhakar Verma, U Ajay Nayak, Sikandar Mahto, along with other officials of the association, congratulated Basanti Kumari on this significant achievement.


Sports enthusiasts and the local community of the state have also expressed their excitement over her success. This young athlete’s accomplishment has become a matter of pride for Jharkhand, as she continues to elevate the state’s name on national and international athletic platforms.
