Tribute on Martyrs’ Day Sacrifice of Guwa Firing Victims Will Not Go in Vain – Deepak Birua

Martyrs remembered in Guwa; Minister highlights state’s development through welfare schemes
Ranchi :: A memorial program was organized on Monday in Guwa, under Jagannathpur subdivision, to honor the martyrs of the Guwa firing incident. Jharkhand’s Revenue, Registration & Land Reforms (Independent Charge) and Transport Minister, Deepak Birua, attended as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Birua said that the initiative to honor the agitators was first taken by Chief Minister Hemant Soren. He recalled that in 2014, during his first tenure as Chief Minister, Mr. Soren had visited Guwa and provided jobs to the families of the martyrs. The amendment in the Agitator Pension Scheme, he added, was also the contribution of the Chief Minister. He emphasized that the state government’s aim is to honor everyone who played a role in the creation of Jharkhand.
Highlighting welfare programs, the minister mentioned that the Abua Awas Yojana is providing homes to the poor, while the Maiyya Samman Yojana grants ₹2,500 monthly honorarium to all eligible women above 18. The Universal Pension Scheme too has become an identity of Jharkhand. He further noted that under the Mukhyamantri Ujjwala Yojana, the government is working to electrify every village and hamlet in the state by 2026. Poor households consuming up to 200 units of electricity are being provided free power.
Referring to progress in education and infrastructure, he said that more than 15,000 roads have been paved, and efforts are being made to establish Chief Minister Excellence Schools.

Paying tribute at the memorial plaque, Minister Birua declared that the sacrifice of the Guwa firing martyrs would not go in vain. “Their struggle will continue to inspire future generations to fight for justice and rights,” he added.
On this occasion, appointment letters were handed over to six dependents — including four who had lost family members in Naxal violence — for Class IV government posts under compassionate grounds. Assets were also distributed among beneficiaries under various schemes such as the Universal Pension Scheme, Unnati ka Pahiya (bicycle distribution), individual forest leases, Phoolo-Jhano Aashirwad Yojana, tractors, and other agricultural equipment.
The event was attended by Majhgaon MLA Niral Purti, Kharsawan MLA Dashrath Gagrai, Chakradharpur MLA Sukhram Oraon, Jagannathpur MLA Sonaram Sinku, Manoharpur MLA Jagat Manjhi, Ichagarh MLA Savita Mahato, Zila Parishad Chairperson Laxmi Suren, DIG of Kolhan Range Anuranjan Kristopotta, West Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Chandan Kumar, SP Rakesh Ranjan, along with several other district-level officials and public representatives.
