Ranchi :: The strike called by the Jharkhand Municipal Workers Union, scheduled for September 25, has been temporarily called off. The decision was made following tripartite talks held today in the presence of the Deputy Labour Commissioner, Ranchi, between the union and the Ranchi Municipal Corporation administration.
During the talks, the Municipal Corporation administration accepted several key demands of the sanitation workers, including the following:
Eight days of annual leave (4 national and 4 festival holidays)  
Promotion from unskilled to skilled categor
Reinstatement of terminated workers
Employment for dependents of deceased workers
Payment of pending wages from
December 2013 to A to Z company workers
Payment of arrears for salary hike effective from April 1, 2025, in three installments
Issuance of identity cards to all workers
Decisions regarding bonus, additional leave, and regularization will be taken in the next round of talks.
Union President Bhavan Singh stated
"A positive step has been taken today on our long-pending demands. The Municipal Corporation administration has accepted several key demands, which is a significant step towards recognizing the dignity and rights of sanitation workers. We have decided to temporarily suspend the strike, but if the promises made are not fulfilled in time, we will be compelled to resume our agitation. I appeal to all sanitation workers to remain united and continue their strong association with the union.”
He also informed that a meeting of sanitation workers will be held at 3 PM on September 25 at the Hatia Mazdoor Union office, where union leaders will brief the workers about the outcomes of the talks.
Present during the talks from Ranchi Municipal Corporation were Additional Administrator Sanjay Kumar, Deputy Administrators Gautam Prasad and Ravindra Kumar, and Assistant Administrators Dilip Kumar and Chandradeep Kumar. From the Labour Department, Assistant Labour Commissioner Avinash Krishna participated, while the union was represented by President Bhavan Singh, General Secretary Prakash Toppo, Secretary Sukhnath Lohra, Assistant Secretary Sujita Devi, and Patron Amal Azad.
