Event held under the aegis of SIDHKOFED; focus on farmers’ welfare through cooperative initiatives
Ranchi::A one-day workshop was organized at Sidgora Town Hall under the aegis of Siddho-Kanho Krishi Evam Vanopaj Zila Sahkari Sangh Ltd. (SIDHKOFED) to empower Multi-Purpose Cooperative Societies (MPCSs). The workshop was graced by Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Bhagirath Prasad as the Chief Guest. The event was presided over by District Cooperative Officer-cum-Secretary of SIDHKOFED, Mrs. Asha Toppo.
In her opening remarks, Mrs. Toppo highlighted the activities, potential, and formation process of SIDHKOFED. She emphasized that the primary aim of the cooperative federation is to help farmers get better prices for their produce and protect them from exploitation by middlemen.
Chief Guest Mr. Bhagirath Prasad, in his address, said that cooperatives can play a vital role in implementing government welfare schemes at the grassroots level. He praised SIDHKOFED’s efforts and urged all cooperative societies to actively participate in initiatives aimed at benefitting farmers.
Members from all MPCSs, FPOs, and cooperative societies of the district were informed about various ongoing programs run by SIDHKOFED. There was also detailed discussion on the holistic development of farmers engaged in agriculture and forest produce, with a focus on strengthening cooperatives through the use of technology.
Key topics covered during the workshop included the computerization of LAMPS, Common Service Centers (CSCs), Jharsewa, PMKSK (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Seva Kendra), Bank Guarantees, and the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme. On this occasion, certificates were also distributed to all affiliated LAMPS.
The workshop saw participation from several dignitaries, including the District Manager - NABARD, District Agriculture Officer, General Manager - District Industries Center, representatives from IFFCO, Jharkhand State Cooperative Bank, Lead District Manager (LDM), CSC Manager, IT Solution representatives, District Manager - HDFC ERGO, technical officers, and other concerned stakeholders.
