Ranchi: On a massive protest was organized in front of the Sonahatu Block Office under the joint call of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and Jharkhand State Kisan Sabha.
Speakers at the protest alleged that in the last 11 years, the Modi government has launched the most attacks on farmers. The anti-farmer land ordinance of 2014, the three black farm laws of 2020, the 2024 agricultural market policy, and the imposition of GST on essentials like pulses, milk, and buttermilk— all these steps are against farmers. They reminded that the written agreement with a legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP), reached during the farmers’ movement on 10th December 2021, has not yet been implemented. There continues to be a shortage and black marketing of urea fertilizer.
Sufal Mahto said
“The country will never forget the sacrifice of 750 farmers who died during the farmers' movement. The 11 years of Modi government have been years of devastation for farmers and workers. Unemployment, inflation, privatization, and corporate loot have ruined the common people. The slogan ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ (Together with all, Development for all) has only proven to be the development of Adani and Ambani.”
He also warned the Jharkhand government to take concrete steps on promises made to farmers, youth, and the public, or else the movement will intensify further.
The assembly declared that protests, sit-ins, and mass campaigns will be carried out at the block level across Jharkhand and the entire country.
