Ranchi: The spread of swine flu (H1N1) is increasing in the state capital, with three more patients testing positive for the virus. The samples of four suspected patients were examined at the Microbiology Department of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), of which three returned positive.
With these new cases, the total number of confirmed swine flu cases in Jharkhand has risen to 11. In view of the rising number of cases, the Health Department has issued a statewide advisory and directed people to remain vigilant.
The infected patients have been kept in isolation and treatment has been initiated. Their health condition is being closely monitored by medical teams.
Doctors said elderly people, children below five years of age, pregnant women and those suffering from conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure are more vulnerable to the infection. They have been advised to take extra precautions.
Health experts have advised people experiencing high fever, cold and cough, body ache or difficulty in breathing to immediately consult a doctor at the nearest health centre. People have also been advised to wear masks in crowded places and follow necessary precautions to prevent the spread of infection.
