Ranchi: The Mahagathbandhan has raised serious concerns over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR-2026) of electoral rolls in Jharkhand and urged the Election Commission to conduct a fair and high-level inquiry into the alleged irregularities.
The alliance alleged that filled-in Form-7 applications were reportedly found in the possession of BJP workers and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) in several districts, including Garhwa, Godda and Chatra.
A delegation of Mahagathbandhan leaders submitted a memorandum to the Election Commission seeking an impartial investigation into the matter. The delegation included state president Keshav Mahto Kamlesh, JMM general secretary Vinod Pandey, former state president Rajesh Thakur, Satish Paul Munjani, Suryakant Shukla, Manoj Kumar, Vikas Munda, Haldhar Mahto and Sudeep Gudiya, among representatives of various constituent parties.
The memorandum called for an immediate halt to the process of deleting names from the electoral rolls on the basis of suspicious Form-7 applications. The alliance also demanded door-to-door physical verification of every objection and strict legal action against anyone found responsible for irregularities.
The Mahagathbandhan further demanded that the SIR process be conducted in a completely transparent and impartial manner. The leaders said that wrongful deletion of eligible voters from the electoral rolls could adversely affect their right to vote and undermine the democratic process.
The alliance leaders stated that they would continue to raise the issue through democratic means to safeguard the voting rights of eligible citizens.
